Locality: Ecuador, Zamora Chinchipe, Yantzaza, Cordillera del Cóndor region. One km north of Río Machinaza at Las Peñas. Ridgetop with Hollín sandstone substrate. Dense wet cloud forest on thin layer of sandy soil atop sandstone, with thick mat of humus and tree roots. "Fruto del Norte" site of Aurelian gold mine company.
