Locality: Ecuador, Zamora Chinchipe, El Pangui, Western slopes of Cordillera del Cóndor. Río Wawaime watershed, tributary of Río Quimi. Ridge with mixed substrate derived from sandstone and granite, below sandstone plateau. Tall forest with 25 m canopy. Vicinity of one-hectare forest inventory "Wawaime Plot". With students of 4th NSF-supported dendrology course.

Description: Tree 8 m tall, 10 cm DBH; understory or subcanopy in forest, especially in light-gaps where tall forest canopy is interrupted. Leaves always ternate. Calyx suffused pink with whitish pubescence. Corolla cream-white. Locally common on sandstone, and also in other areas of the Cordillera del Cóndor.
