Terrestrial on steep bank; internodes short to 7 cm diam.; cataphylls lanceolate, sharply 1-ribbed persisting as mostly parallel, erect pale brown fibers; petioles round abaxially with 1 moderately prominent rib, sometimes several ribbed on the sides and abaxially, prominently flattened adaxially with prominently raised margins (these somewhat turned inward); blades moderately coriaceous, semiglossy, slightly bicolorous; midrib convex and slightly paler above, narrowly rounded, sharply 2-ribbed toward base and more or less concolorous below; primary lateral veins thickly convex on both sides.
